ALOR STAR: Tan Chew Seong had always been very careful when carrying out his job as a construction worker.

An expert on installing water tanks, the 39-year-old fell several floors from a multi-storey building under construction here last October.
Fortunately, he survived the fall but suffered a broken left hand. He has since been operated on three times and been in and of hospital a number of times, including being warded for 15 days immediately after that ill-fated day

Ops Kesan to nab employers who fail to make Socso contributions

The Social Security Organisation (Socso) will launch its massive enforcement operation, dubbed Ops Kesan 2013, against employers who fail to make Socso contributions for their employees, on Sept 1.
Its chief executive officer, Datuk K. Selvarajah said a campaign to increase awareness among employers about Socso benefits and protection available for employees will be held throughout July and August before the operation is implemented in September.
